The GTMaritime Download

Welcome to the first edition of the GTMaritime Download, our new regular newsletter keeping you up to speed with latest developments at GTMaritime.

Our primary intention is to update you on the GTMaritime services you’re currently using and tell you about the latest additions to our expanding portfolio. We will also offer sneak previews of forthcoming solutions that will help you manage cyber-security and control ship/shore data flows across your fleet, and notify you of events we’re attending so we can meet face-to-face.

One of the highlights in this edition is a new case-study describing how a Singaporean transhipment company made its vessels and crew safer by integrating GTMaritime solutions into its IT. We also take a look at the role of penetration testing in tackling the human-element in risk management because, as we all know, technology alone is never the complete solution.

We look forward to keeping you updated throughout the year. In the meantime, we would love to hear what you think of this first edition and what you want to see more of in the future.

Can your staff prevent a cyber-crime before it happens?

We’ve introduced a free-of-charge penetration testing service which allows vessel operators to assess the detective skills of their personnel to spot phishing attacks. Hackers are always trying new ruses to bypass your security measures so staff need to stay vigilant and know what to do in the event a fraudulent message slips through. READ MORE

GTMaritime collects cyber-security trophy

We’re immensely pleased to celebrate winning the Smart4Sea award. Our Head of Operations Jamie Jones travelled to Europort in Rotterdam to collect the trophy for the product making ‘the most noteworthy contribution to cyber security in shipping in 2019’. In a short acceptance speech, he reminded those attending the ceremony about the very real consequences cyber threats pose to shipping. READ MORE

Final call for users of our original GTMail

We have decided to fully retire GTMail – our original solution for mail management at sea. Born in the last millennium, GTMail has lasted well beyond our initial expectations, but it can no longer provide the quality of cyber-protection vessel owners expect as we enter the 2020s. We explain the decision and, if you’re viewing this newsletter via GTMail, your migration options.
